The genuine Goodman 20162903 Primary Limit Switch is a factory safety control engineered for the ACVM970603BNBA modulating variable-speed gas furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana models. This normally-closed high-limit switch monitors heat-exchanger temperature and opens the burner circuit at 150°F to prevent overheating, protecting the cabinet, blower, and surrounding components from heat damage.
When a furnace short-cycles, trips on limit, or shuts down during a heating call, a failed or out-of-calibration primary limit is a common cause. Installing the correct OEM-spec switch restores reliable, safe operation.
Our OEM Goodman limit switch is calibrated to the exact trip temperature and mounting footprint specified by the manufacturer, ensuring proper safety response and a drop-in fit. Generic universal limits may carry a different open temperature or bracket and can cause nuisance trips or fail safety certification. For a furnace's primary safety control, OEM is strongly recommended.
Easy (1/5). Two-screw mount with spade terminals — typically a 10–15 minute repair. Always disconnect power at the disconnect or breaker before servicing. If you are unsure, contact a licensed HVAC technician.
