The B1497204 is a genuine OEM Goodman fusible link, a one-time thermal safety device engineered for GUX080-4 gas furnaces. Mounted in the blower or burner compartment, it opens the low-voltage control circuit if internal temperatures exceed its 144°C (291°F) rating, shutting the furnace down before heat can damage wiring or components. If your furnace has stopped firing after an overheat event, a blown fusible link is one of the most common and inexpensive causes.
The genuine Goodman OEM link is calibrated to the exact trip point your furnace's safety design requires, ensuring the burner shuts down at the correct temperature. Aftermarket links may trip early (nuisance shutdowns) or late (a genuine safety risk). For a component whose sole job is protection, we recommend the OEM part.
Easy (1/5). A 10–15 minute repair for most homeowners: cut power at the breaker, disconnect the two spade terminals, unclip or unscrew the old link, and reverse to install. Always confirm the underlying cause of the overheat (dirty filter, blocked airflow, failed blower) before restoring power.
Always disconnect power before servicing. If unsure, consult a licensed HVAC technician.
