The Goodman B1497204 is a genuine OEM 144°C (291°F) fusible link thermal safety cutoff for the Goodman GUI075-4 furnace. This one-time safety device opens the control circuit permanently if the furnace overheats — typically after a blocked flue, failed blower, or restricted return air. If your furnace is dead with no control power and the link is open, this is the inexpensive part that restores operation once the root cause is corrected.
Because this is a safety device, the trip temperature must match exactly. The genuine Goodman OEM link is rated at the factory-specified 144°C. A generic link with a different trip point either nuisance-trips or, worse, fails to protect the furnace. There is no meaningful cost saving on a part this inexpensive — always use the OEM rating.
Easy — but diagnose first. The link itself is a quick disconnect-and-replace. Cut power at the disconnect before servicing. Critically, a blown fusible link is a symptom: find and fix what caused the overheat (dirty filter, blocked flue, failed blower) before replacing, or the new link will trip again. Plan on 15–20 minutes for the swap.
