The Goodman B1497204 is a genuine OEM fusible link thermal cutoff rated to 144°C, designed as a direct replacement for the Goodman GUI075-2 gas furnace. This inexpensive but critical safety device opens the control circuit if the furnace overheats — protecting against blocked airflow, blower failure, or a stuck gas valve. When it trips, the furnace shuts down and will not restart until the link is replaced, so a no-heat call often traces back to this part.
Because this is a safety component, the trip temperature must match the furnace design exactly. Genuine Goodman links are calibrated to the correct 144°C rating and physical form factor. A generic link with the wrong temperature rating can trip prematurely (nuisance shutdowns) or, worse, fail to trip when it should. Always use the OEM B1497204 for safe, code-compliant operation.
Easy. Shut off power, locate the link in the limit/blower circuit, disconnect the two leads, and install the replacement. No calibration needed. Allow 15–20 minutes. Important: investigate why the original link blew — a tripped link is usually a symptom of an underlying airflow or overheating problem.
