The Goodman B1497204 Fusible Link is a genuine OEM 144°C (291°F) one-shot thermal safety cutoff for the Goodman GUI050-2 gas furnace. Wired in series with the low-voltage control circuit, this link opens permanently if the blower compartment or heat exchanger area exceeds its rated temperature, shutting the furnace down to prevent overheating. If your furnace is completely dead after an overheat event or blocked airflow, a blown fusible link is a frequent cause.
Because this is a safety device, the OEM part with its exact 144°C trip rating is essential — never substitute a link with a different temperature rating. Using a higher-rated or generic link defeats the furnace's overheat protection and creates a fire hazard. The factory Goodman part guarantees the correct rating and lead length.
Easy to moderate — the link plugs into the control wiring, but you must first diagnose and correct the underlying overheat cause (dirty filter, blocked ducts, failing blower). Disconnect power before replacing. A quick job for a technician; DIYers should confirm airflow is restored before running.
