The B1497204 is a genuine OEM Goodman 144°C (291°F) fusible link — a one-time thermal safety cutoff used in GDI100-4 gas furnaces. It permanently opens the circuit if the furnace overheats, protecting the blower and heat exchanger area from thermal runaway. A blown fusible link is a frequent cause of a completely dead furnace after an overheat event, and it is one of the cheapest, most satisfying parts to replace.
Because a fusible link is a life-safety device, matching the exact 144°C OEM trip rating matters. This genuine Goodman part guarantees the correct temperature threshold. Generic links with the wrong rating may trip prematurely or, worse, fail to trip when they should — do not substitute an incorrect temperature value.
Easy — 10–15 minutes. Cut power, locate the link near the burner/limit area, disconnect the two leads, and splice in the replacement. A basic hand tool and a photo of the original wiring are all you need.
Important: if a fusible link has blown, always diagnose the underlying overheat cause (dirty filter, blocked airflow, failed blower) before returning the furnace to service.
