The B1497204 is a genuine OEM 144°C fusible link (thermal limit cutout) for the Goodman GUI100-3 furnace. This one-time safety fuse is wired into the control circuit and permanently opens if internal temperatures reach 144°C (about 291°F) — protecting the furnace and home from overheating caused by blocked airflow, a stuck blower, or a failed limit. When a fusible link blows, the furnace goes completely dead with no ignition, which points to an over-temperature event that must be diagnosed.
As a thermal safety device, the exact 144°C rating is what makes this link protective. The genuine OEM B1497204 is calibrated to open at the temperature Goodman specified for this furnace. Substituting a link with a different rating undermines the safety function. Always use the OEM-rated part.
Cut power to the furnace, disconnect the two leads, mount the new link in the same location, and reconnect. A simple job with basic tools — but a blown fusible link means the furnace overheated, so find and fix the root cause (dirty filter, blocked return, failed blower) before restoring power.
Fits Goodman GUI100-3. This is a non-resettable one-time safety part.
