Overview

This OEM ICP control transformer (part #1172028) steps down 208/230V line voltage to the 24V control voltage that runs your thermostat, relays, and safety circuits. Rated at 40VA, it supplies the contactors, control board, and low-voltage accessories on the WAXL364A2. A failed transformer kills the entire low-voltage circuit — the thermostat goes dark, the system won't call for heat or cool, and contactors won't energize. Buzzing, a repeatedly blown 24V fuse, or a burnt odor at the control panel typically point to a shorted secondary or an overloaded transformer.

Installation Guide

1. Safety First — Disconnect power at the breaker and verify zero voltage at the transformer with a multimeter.
2. Access — Remove the unit service panel to expose the control box.
3. Document — Photograph all primary and secondary wire connections before disconnecting.
4. Remove — Label and disconnect the primary (line) and secondary (24V) leads, then unbolt the old transformer from its bracket.
5. Install — Mount the new transformer and reconnect the primary and secondary leads exactly per your photo.
6. Test — Restore power and confirm 24V across the secondary terminals and normal startup.
