OEM part number 1184216 (IGNITOR SPARKER) is the electrode that generates the high-voltage spark to light the burners on a direct-spark ignition (DSI) system. On each heat call the control board energizes the igniter, the spark ignites the gas, and the flame sensor confirms ignition. A cracked ceramic insulator, an eroded electrode tip, an incorrect spark gap, or carbon buildup causes weak or no spark — resulting in failed ignition, lockouts, and no heat.
