Overview

This OEM outdoor thermostat (ICP part #1054570, Honeywell T6031H-style) is a temperature-sensing control used to stage supplemental or backup heat and to lock out heat-pump operation based on outdoor air temperature. It is a single-pole, single-throw (SPST) 24V control with an adjustable temperature setpoint. When the outdoor temperature crosses the setpoint, the contacts open or close to enable or disable a stage of heat, protecting compressor operation and improving efficiency. Common failure symptoms include backup heat that runs constantly, backup heat that never engages in cold weather, contacts that fail to make at the rated setpoint, or a sensing element that drifts out of calibration.

Installation Guide
