Overview

This genuine OEM ignitor electrode (part 1179966) provides ignition for the ICP/Tempstar/Heil RGS210SSAA0AAAA gas furnace. On each heat call the control board energizes the ignitor, which heats or sparks at the burner to light the gas as the valve opens. A worn or cracked ignitor electrode is one of the most common reasons a furnace will not light: the unit calls for heat, the inducer runs, the gas valve opens, but no flame is established, and the board locks out after several failed trials. Because the electrode is subjected to repeated thermal cycling, hairline cracks, erosion, and contamination develop over time. Handle the new electrode by its base only — oils from bare fingers can shorten its life.
