Overview

This OEM ignitor electrode (part 1179966) lights the burners on the ICP / Tempstar / Heil RGS240HSAA0AAAA rooftop gas-electric package unit. The electrode delivers the high-voltage spark that ignites gas at the burner on each heating call and, on many of these assemblies, also serves the flame-sensing function that proves the burner has lit. A cracked ceramic insulator, eroded electrode tip, or wrong gap is a leading cause of no-heat lockouts and short-cycling on ignition fault. Installing the genuine OEM electrode restores the correct spark gap, rod position, and insulator rating so the ignition control proves flame reliably instead of locking out.

Installation Guide

1. Safety First - Disconnect power and close the manual gas valve, then verify zero voltage with a multimeter.
2. Access - Remove the burner-compartment service panel.
3. Document - Photograph the electrode position, gap, and wire routing before removing.
4. Remove - Disconnect the high-voltage lead, unscrew the electrode bracket, and lift the old electrode out.
5. Install - Mount the new electrode at the factory gap and reconnect the ignition lead per your photo.
6. Test - Restore gas and power and confirm the burner sparks, lights, and proves flame without lockout.
