This OEM igniter electrode (part number 1179966) is the ignition and flame-sensing component for the ICP/Heil/Tempstar RGS243LDAA0AAAA gas furnace. The electrode produces the spark that lights the burners on each heating call and senses the resulting flame to keep the gas valve open. When the electrode cracks, corrodes, or its tip erodes, the furnace fails to light, lights then immediately drops out on a flame-sense lockout, or short-cycles. A worn electrode is a common no-heat cause and a quick, low-cost repair.
