Overview

This genuine OEM hot surface igniter kit fits the ICP / Tempstar / Heil RGS121HTCA0AAA gas furnace. The hot surface igniter (OEM part 1171306) glows to roughly 2,000°F when the furnace control board energizes it, lighting the burners at the start of every heating cycle. This kit also includes the matched igniter wiring harness (OEM part 1188370) so the connector and leads can be replaced together for a clean, reliable installation. Igniters are a common heating-season failure: the silicon nitride or silicon carbide element is brittle and degrades with every cycle, eventually cracking and breaking the circuit so the furnace can no longer light.

Compatibility

Direct-fit replacement for the ICP / Tempstar / Heil RGS121HTCA0AAA furnace and many shared-platform Comfortmaker, Arcoaire and Carrier/Bryant furnaces that use the same hot surface igniter and connector. Match the mounting bracket and connector style to your existing igniter before installing.

Installation Guide

  1. Safety First — Shut off gas and disconnect furnace power, then verify zero voltage at the igniter leads with a multimeter.
  2. Access — Remove the furnace burner-compartment access panel.
  3. Document — Photograph the igniter position, bracket orientation and harness routing before disconnecting.
  4. Remove — Unplug the igniter harness, remove the mounting screw, and lift out the old igniter without touching the element with bare fingers.
  5. Install — Mount the new igniter, route and plug in the new wiring kit, handling the ceramic element by the base only.
  6. Test — Restore gas and power, call for heat, and confirm the igniter glows and lights the burners on the first try.

Signs You Need a Replacement

  • Furnace clicks but burners never light (no glow at the igniter).
  • Visible cracks or breaks in the ceramic element.
  • Furnace locks out after several failed ignition attempts.
  • Igniter glows weakly or intermittently during start-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this Igniter fit my ICP RGS121HTCA0AAA — With Wiring Harness | Ships Today?
Yes. This is the factory-specified OEM igniter for the ICP RGS121HTCA0AAA — With Wiring Harness | Ships Today. It is a direct drop-in replacement that fits without modification. Always verify the model number on your equipment nameplate before ordering.
How do I replace the igniter on my ICP RGS121HTCA0AAA — With Wiring Harness | Ships Today?
Difficulty: Medium (20–30 min)
Step 1: Turn off power and gas. Step 2: Open furnace panel. Step 3: Locate igniter near burners. Step 4: Disconnect two-wire plug. Step 5: Remove mounting screw. Step 6: Install new igniter — do NOT touch element with fingers. Step 7: Reconnect, close panel, restore power/gas.
My furnace won’t ignite. What part is bad?
Furnace won’t ignite after the draft inducer runs = failed igniter. The hot surface igniter should glow bright orange within 60 seconds. No glow = cracked/burned out. Weak glow = degrading. Average lifespan: 3–7 years. Replacement: $15–$40 DIY.
Is this igniter compatible with Bryant or Payne too?
Many ICP parts are cross-compatible with Bryant and Payne since all three brands are manufactured by Carrier Global Corporation. The same physical part is often used across brand labels with different model numbers. To verify: check your Bryant or Payne equipment service manual for cross-compatible part numbers, or email info@nationalhvacparts.com with your model number.
Should I use OEM or aftermarket for my ICP igniter?
OEM recommended for reliability and warranty compatibility. OEM parts match exact factory specifications for proper fit, performance, and safety. While aftermarket alternatives cost less upfront, the risk of improper fit and reduced lifespan usually makes OEM the better value long-term.
How fast does National HVAC Parts ship?
Orders placed before 3:00 PM CST ship the same business day. Standard delivery is 2–5 business days anywhere in the continental United States. Express shipping available at checkout. We ship from Houston, TX to all 50 states. 30-day return policy on all parts.
