Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter (part 1171306) ignites the gas burners on the ICP/Tempstar/Heil RGS121HFAA0AAAA gas furnace, and ships with the matching igniter wiring kit (part 1188370) for a clean, complete replacement. On each call for heat the control board sends 120 volts to the igniter, which glows white-hot to ignite the burner gas. Because the element is brittle silicon carbide or silicon nitride, it is the single most common heating failure in a modern furnace — it can crack from thermal cycling, vibration, or even being touched with bare fingers during a prior repair. A cracked or worn igniter is the usual cause of a furnace that clicks and tries to light but never produces heat.
