Overview

This ICP OEM hot surface igniter kit (igniter PN 1171306 plus wiring kit PN 1188370) is the ignition source for your gas furnace. On a heat call the control board sends voltage to the igniter, which glows incandescent and lights the burner gas. Hot surface igniters are fragile and degrade over time — the silicon-carbide or silicon-nitride element develops micro-cracks from thermal cycling until it can no longer reach ignition temperature. The included wiring kit refreshes the connector and pigtail so you get a complete, reliable repair rather than reusing a brittle old harness. When the igniter fails, the furnace blower may run but no heat is produced and the unit often locks out after several failed ignition attempts.
