Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter kit for the ICP Tempstar Heil RGS102LRAB0AAA gas furnace includes the igniter element (part 1171306) and a matching igniter wiring kit (part 1188370). The hot surface igniter glows to roughly 2,000°F to ignite the burners on each heat call. The igniter is the most common furnace failure: the silicon-carbide or silicon-nitride element is brittle and degrades with every cycle until it cracks and stops glowing. The included wiring kit replaces brittle, heat-damaged leads and the connector so you get a complete, reliable repair rather than reusing aged wiring.

Installation Guide

  1. Safety First — Disconnect power at the furnace switch and breaker, verify zero voltage with a multimeter.
  2. Access — Remove the burner compartment door.
  3. Document — Photo the igniter position and wire routing before disconnecting.
  4. Remove — Unplug the igniter lead, remove the mounting screw, and lift out the cracked igniter. Handle the new element by the ceramic base only — never touch the glow tip.
  5. Install — Mount the new igniter, route and connect the new wiring kit per your photo.
  6. Test — Restore power, call for heat, and confirm the igniter glows and the burners light within seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this Igniter fit my ICP RGS102LRAB0AAA — With Wiring Harness | Ships Today?
Yes. This is the factory-specified OEM igniter for the ICP RGS102LRAB0AAA — With Wiring Harness | Ships Today. It is a direct drop-in replacement that fits without modification. Always verify the model number on your equipment nameplate before ordering.
How do I replace the igniter on my ICP RGS102LRAB0AAA — With Wiring Harness | Ships Today?
Difficulty: Medium (20–30 min)
Step 1: Turn off power and gas. Step 2: Open furnace panel. Step 3: Locate igniter near burners. Step 4: Disconnect two-wire plug. Step 5: Remove mounting screw. Step 6: Install new igniter — do NOT touch element with fingers. Step 7: Reconnect, close panel, restore power/gas.
My furnace won’t ignite. What part is bad?
Furnace won’t ignite after the draft inducer runs = failed igniter. The hot surface igniter should glow bright orange within 60 seconds. No glow = cracked/burned out. Weak glow = degrading. Average lifespan: 3–7 years. Replacement: $15–$40 DIY.
Is this igniter compatible with Bryant or Payne too?
Many ICP parts are cross-compatible with Bryant and Payne since all three brands are manufactured by Carrier Global Corporation. The same physical part is often used across brand labels with different model numbers. To verify: check your Bryant or Payne equipment service manual for cross-compatible part numbers, or email info@nationalhvacparts.com with your model number.
Should I use OEM or aftermarket for my ICP igniter?
OEM recommended for reliability and warranty compatibility. OEM parts match exact factory specifications for proper fit, performance, and safety. While aftermarket alternatives cost less upfront, the risk of improper fit and reduced lifespan usually makes OEM the better value long-term.
How fast does National HVAC Parts ship?
