Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter (part 606996) is the ignition source for the ICP (International Comfort Products) WUGE105AG01 gas furnace. On every call for heat the control board energizes the igniter, which glows red-hot to ignite the burners. The igniter is the most frequently replaced furnace component — its silicon carbide or silicon nitride element grows brittle with each thermal cycle and eventually cracks. Once it fails, the inducer and gas valve sequence may run but the burners never light, leaving the home without heat.
