Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter kit (HSI) is the factory ignition assembly for the ICP / Tempstar / Heil WFMR070A036B2 gas furnace. The kit covers the complete ignition group: igniter element (OEM 1176919), the igniter mounting bracket (OEM 1183455), and the N HSI snap valve assembly (OEM 1176929, ref 36J24618). The hot surface igniter is a silicon-carbide or silicon-nitride element that glows red-hot when energized to directly light the gas at the burner. It is the single most common cause of a no-heat call: the brittle element cracks from thermal cycling, age, or being touched during service. When the igniter fails the furnace will run its inducer and call for heat but never light, often locking out after 3–5 retry attempts.

Installation Guide

6. Test — Restore gas and power, start a heat cycle, and confirm the igniter glows and the burners light within the normal trial-for-ignition window.
