Overview

The OEM igniter electrode (part 1179966) is the component that ignites the gas burners on your ICP/Tempstar/Heil RGS300HRAA0AAAA furnace. On each call for heat, the control board energizes the igniter; it heats to incandescence and lights the burner gas. Hot surface igniters are brittle and degrade with every thermal cycle, so they are a routine wear item. Installation Guide

5. Install — Mount the new igniter without touching the element with bare fingers (skin oils shorten its life), then reconnect the plug.
6. Test — Restore gas and power, call for heat, and confirm the igniter glows and lights the burners.
