Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter electrode (part 1179966) ignites the burners on the ICP RGS240HREA0AAAA gas furnace. On each heat call the control board sends voltage to the igniter, which glows red-hot to light the gas as the valve opens. Igniters are a wear item — the brittle element develops hairline cracks from thermal cycling and eventually fails open. When it does, the furnace runs through its sequence, the inducer and blower energize, but no flame appears and the unit locks out. A visibly cracked element or one that no longer glows is a definitive replacement.

Installation Guide

5. Install — Position the new igniter at the correct depth over the burner, secure it, and reconnect the harness.
