This OEM hot surface igniter (OEM 1171306) with its matching igniter wiring kit (OEM 1188370) is the ignition component for the ICP / Heil / Tempstar RGS121HDCB0AAA gas furnace. On each heat call, the control board sends voltage to the igniter, which glows white-hot and lights the burner gas. Hot surface igniters are made of a brittle silicon-carbide or silicon-nitride element that degrades with every thermal cycle and eventually cracks or burns open.
