Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter (part number 1171306) is the direct factory replacement ignition component for the ICP / Tempstar / Heil RGS120HEAB0AGAA gas furnace. The hot surface igniter is energized at the start of every heating call and glows red-hot to ignite the gas at the burners. This kit ships with the matching igniter wiring kit (part number 1188370) so you replace the brittle factory leads at the same time and avoid a repeat service call. Igniters are the single most common no-heat failure on modern furnaces — the silicon carbide element is fragile and degrades a little with every cycle until it finally cracks. When that happens the furnace draft inducer runs, the gas valve opens briefly, but the burners never light and the board locks out.

Installation Guide
