Overview

This is a genuine OEM hot surface igniter assembly for the ICP / Tempstar / Heil RGS102LEAA0AAA gas furnace, supplied with the matching wiring harness kit. The kit includes the hot surface igniter (Part No. 1171306) and the igniter wiring kit (Part No. 1188370). On each heat call the furnace control board sends line voltage to the igniter, which glows to several hundred degrees and ignites the burner gas. Because the igniter element is brittle silicon carbide or silicon nitride, it is a normal wear item that degrades over hundreds of heating cycles. A cracked or worn igniter is the leading cause of furnace no-heat and short-cycle lockout faults.

Compatibility

Direct fit for the ICP RGS102LEAA0AAA and other RGS102-series gas furnaces built by ICP for Tempstar, Heil, Comfortmaker, and Arcoaire. The included wiring kit ensures a clean plug-and-play connection to the original harness without splicing.

Installation Guide

  1. Safety First — Switch off the furnace at the service switch and breaker, shut the gas valve, and verify zero voltage at the control board.
  2. Access — Remove the furnace burner-compartment door.
  3. Document — Photograph the igniter bracket position and the wiring plug routing.
  4. Remove — Unplug the igniter harness, remove the mounting screw, and carefully withdraw the old igniter — never touch the element with bare fingers.
  5. Install — Seat the new igniter so it aligns over the burner port, secure the screw, and connect the new wiring kit.
  6. Test — Restore gas and power, call for heat, and watch for a full glow, burner ignition, and steady flame.

Signs You Need a Replacement

  • Furnace blower runs but burners never light (no heat)
  • Igniter shows cracks, pitting, or white/blistered spots on the element
  • Furnace locks out after several failed ignition attempts
  • Igniter glows weakly or not at all on a heat call

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this Igniter fit my ICP RGS102LEAA0AAA — with Wiring Kit | Ships Today?
Yes. This is the factory-specified OEM igniter for the ICP RGS102LEAA0AAA — with Wiring Kit | Ships Today. It is a direct drop-in replacement that fits without modification. Always verify the model number on your equipment nameplate before ordering.
How do I replace the igniter on my ICP RGS102LEAA0AAA — with Wiring Kit | Ships Today?
Difficulty: Medium (20–30 min)
Step 1: Turn off power and gas. Step 2: Open furnace panel. Step 3: Locate igniter near burners. Step 4: Disconnect two-wire plug. Step 5: Remove mounting screw. Step 6: Install new igniter — do NOT touch element with fingers. Step 7: Reconnect, close panel, restore power/gas.
My furnace won’t ignite. What part is bad?
Furnace won’t ignite after the draft inducer runs = failed igniter. The hot surface igniter should glow bright orange within 60 seconds. No glow = cracked/burned out. Weak glow = degrading. Average lifespan: 3–7 years. Replacement: $15–$40 DIY.
Is this igniter compatible with Bryant or Payne too?
Many ICP parts are cross-compatible with Bryant and Payne since all three brands are manufactured by Carrier Global Corporation. The same physical part is often used across brand labels with different model numbers. To verify: check your Bryant or Payne equipment service manual for cross-compatible part numbers, or email info@nationalhvacparts.com with your model number.
Should I use OEM or aftermarket for my ICP igniter?
OEM recommended for reliability and warranty compatibility. OEM parts match exact factory specifications for proper fit, performance, and safety. While aftermarket alternatives cost less upfront, the risk of improper fit and reduced lifespan usually makes OEM the better value long-term.
How fast does National HVAC Parts ship?
Orders placed before 3:00 PM CST ship the same business day. Standard delivery is 2–5 business days anywhere in the continental United States. Express shipping available at checkout. We ship from Houston, TX to all 50 states. 30-day return policy on all parts.
