Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter electrode (part #1179966) ignites the burners on the ICP Tempstar/Heil RGS210LSAA0AAAA gas furnace. On each heat call the control board energizes the igniter, which glows red-hot to light the gas as the valve opens. Igniters are a wear item — the brittle silicon-carbide or silicon-nitride element degrades with every heating cycle and eventually cracks or fails to reach ignition temperature. The result is no heat, repeated ignition lockouts, or the furnace cycling on the inducer without ever lighting. Handle the new element by its ceramic base only; skin oils shorten its life.
