This OEM gas valve support bracket (part #1178238) is the steel mounting bracket that holds the gas valve in the correct position within the burner assembly of ICP, Tempstar, and Heil RGS-series gas furnaces. It locates and stabilizes the valve so the manifold, burners, and gas line stay properly aligned, preventing strain on the gas connections from vibration or handling. While the bracket itself does not control gas flow, a bent, corroded, or missing bracket can allow the valve and manifold to shift, leading to misaligned burner flames, stressed fittings, or difficulty servicing the valve. Replacing a damaged bracket restores the factory mounting geometry.
