Overview

This genuine OEM defrost control board (part number 1069364) is the brains of the defrost cycle on the ICP / Tempstar / Heil YL042GA1 heat pump. It monitors the defrost thermostat and run time, energizes the reversing valve coil, stops the outdoor fan, and triggers auxiliary heat to clear frost from the outdoor coil in heating mode. A failed board leaves the outdoor coil iced over, runs continuous or no defrost, fails to changeover, or leaves the unit dead with no outdoor operation. Because it controls compressor and reversing-valve timing, a faulty defrost board can also cause nuisance lockouts and poor heating performance.
