Overview
This OEM defrost control board (part number 34332101) governs the defrost cycle on your ICP, Tempstar, and Heil YK036G heat pump. In heating mode, ice forms on the outdoor coil and chokes off airflow. The defrost board watches coil temperature and accumulated run time, then briefly switches the reversing valve and outdoor fan to melt that ice before returning to heating. A failed 24V board leaves the coil iced over, locks the unit out of defrost, causes short-cycling, or stops heat output entirely.
