Overview

This is the genuine OEM defrost control board (part #34332101) for the ICP/Tempstar/Heil YK018G2 heat pump. The defrost board monitors outdoor coil temperature and run time, then energizes the reversing valve and stops the outdoor fan to melt frost off the coil during heating season. It also coordinates compressor timing and auxiliary/emergency heat staging. When the board fails, the heat pump can ice over solid, run continuous unnecessary defrost cycles, fail to switch into defrost at all, or lose proper compressor and fan control — all of which kill efficiency and comfort.

Installation Guide

1. Safety First — Disconnect power at the disconnect and breaker; verify zero voltage with a multimeter.
2. Access — Remove the condenser control-box service panel.
3. Document — Photograph every plug, sensor, and wire on the board before disconnecting.
4. Remove — Unplug the connectors and defrost sensor, release the standoffs/screws, and lift out the old board.
5. Install — Mount the new board on the same standoffs, reconnect each plug and the defrost sensor per your photo, and set any DIP/jumper defrost-interval settings to match the original.
6. Test — Restore power, run a heating call, and confirm normal operation and (where applicable) a forced defrost cycle.
