Overview

This OEM defrost control board (part 1069364) is the brain of the defrost cycle in your ICP / Tempstar / Heil YJ048GA2 heat pump. It monitors coil temperature and run time, then initiates and terminates defrost so frost is cleared from the outdoor coil during cold-weather operation. The board also coordinates the reversing valve, condenser fan, and compressor timing during the cycle. When a defrost board fails, the outdoor coil ices over, heating efficiency collapses, and you may see the unit short-cycle or never defrost at all. A direct-replacement board restores proper defrost timing and protects the compressor.

Installation Guide

1. Safety First — Disconnect power at the disconnect and breaker, then verify zero voltage with a multimeter.
2. Access — Remove the condensing unit control-panel cover to reach the board.
3. Document — Photograph every wire and plug-in connector and note the defrost timing pin/jumper setting.
4. Remove — Unplug the connectors, release the mounting standoffs or screws, and lift out the old board.
5. Install — Mount the new board, transfer all connectors per your photo, and set the defrost timing jumper to match the original.
6. Test — Restore power, run a heat call, and confirm normal operation and a forced/initiated defrost cycle completes correctly.
