Overview

The ICP defrost control board (OEM part 34332101) is the brain of the defrost cycle on your ICP / Tempstar / Heil YJ018G1 heat pump. It monitors coil temperature and run time, then energizes the reversing valve and shuts off the outdoor fan to melt frost off the outdoor coil during cold-weather operation. When this board fails, the unit either never defrosts (ice builds on the coil and heating output drops) or defrosts constantly (wasting energy and short-cycling).
