Overview

The defrost board is the brain of the outdoor unit in heating mode: it monitors the defrost thermostat and a timed interval, then commands the reversing valve and condenser fan to clear frost and ice off the outdoor coil before returning to normal heating. It also manages compressor staging, anti-short-cycle timing, and the 24V relay outputs that drive the contactor and reversing valve coil.
