Overview

This OEM crankcase heater thermostat (part number 14124800) is a temperature-sensing switch with a 75/55 setpoint that controls the compressor crankcase heater on the ICP/Tempstar/Heil YD048GA. It energizes the heater in cold weather to keep refrigerant from migrating into and diluting the compressor oil, then opens as temperature rises. Rated to close around 55°F and open around 75°F, the switch protects the compressor from slugging and bearing wear on startup. A failed switch either leaves the heater off in the cold or stuck on, wasting energy.
