Overview

This OEM contactor kit for the ICP RHS181S0AA0AAAA heat pump includes a 2-pole 30A contactor (OEM 1171554, CONTACTOR 2P 30A 24V) and a 3-pole 40A contactor (OEM 1172449, CONTACTOR 3P 40A 24V). Both use a 24V control coil that closes the line-voltage contacts to energize the compressor and condenser fan motor on a thermostat call. Over time the contact points pit, weld, or chatter, causing the compressor to fail to start, run intermittently, or stay running after the call ends. Fresh OEM contactors restore clean switching and protect the compressor from voltage damage.

Installation Guide

  1. Safety First – Disconnect power and verify zero voltage at the contactor line terminals with a multimeter.
  2. Access – Remove the condensing unit service panel to reach the contactor.
  3. Document – Photograph every line, load, and 24V coil wire before disconnecting.
  4. Remove – Move wires one at a time to the new contactor, or label them, then unbolt the old contactor from the bracket.
  5. Install – Mount the new contactor, transfer the line/load wires and 24V coil leads exactly per your photo.
  6. Test – Restore power, call for cooling, and confirm the contactor pulls in and the compressor and fan start.

Signs You Need a Replacement

  • Buzzing or humming from the contactor with no compressor start.
  • Pitted, blackened, or welded contacts.
  • Compressor keeps running after the thermostat is satisfied (stuck closed).

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this Contactor fit my ICP RHS181S0AA0AAAA – 2-Pole 30A & 3-Pole 40A 24V | Ships Today?
Yes. This is the factory-specified OEM contactor for the ICP RHS181S0AA0AAAA – 2-Pole 30A & 3-Pole 40A 24V | Ships Today. It is a direct drop-in replacement that fits without modification. Always verify the model number on your equipment nameplate before ordering.
How do I replace the contactor on my ICP RHS181S0AA0AAAA – 2-Pole 30A & 3-Pole 40A 24V | Ships Today?
Difficulty: Medium (30–45 min)
Step 1: Turn off breaker. Step 2: Open condensing unit panel. Step 3: Photograph ALL wiring on the contactor. Step 4: Label each wire with tape. Step 5: Disconnect wires and remove old contactor. Step 6: Mount new contactor, reconnect wires matching your photo. Step 7: Restore power and test.
My AC clicks but the compressor won’t turn on. What’s wrong?
Clicking from the outdoor unit without the compressor starting = worn contactor. The contactor sends power to the compressor. When its contacts are pitted, it clicks but can’t make solid contact. Look for: visible pitting/burn marks on the contactor face, intermittent operation, or buzzing.
Is this contactor compatible with Bryant or Payne too?
Many ICP parts are cross-compatible with Bryant and Payne since all three brands are manufactured by Carrier Global Corporation. The same physical part is often used across brand labels with different model numbers. To verify: check your Bryant or Payne equipment service manual for cross-compatible part numbers, or email info@nationalhvacparts.com with your model number.
Should I use OEM or aftermarket for my ICP contactor?
OEM recommended for reliability and warranty compatibility. OEM parts match exact factory specifications for proper fit, performance, and safety. While aftermarket alternatives cost less upfront, the risk of improper fit and reduced lifespan usually makes OEM the better value long-term.
How fast does National HVAC Parts ship?
