Overview
This OEM single-pole definite purpose contactor (part number 1050699) is the electrically operated switch that energizes the compressor and condenser fan in your ICP / Heil / Tempstar YK030G1 condensing unit. When the thermostat calls, the 24V control circuit pulls in the contactor coil, closing 25-amp line-voltage contacts that power the outdoor unit. After tens of thousands of cycles the contact points pit, arc, and erode, so the unit can no longer start reliably — or the contacts weld shut and the compressor runs continuously. A loud buzzing or chattering outdoor unit, a contactor that won't pull in, or burned and pitted contacts all point to a worn contactor.
