This OEM 40VA control transformer steps line voltage down to the 24V control voltage that powers the low-voltage circuit on your ICP, Tempstar, and Heil YK036G system. That 24V supply energizes the components this part feeds — including the reversing valve coil (1063443) and the 24V control relays (96467, 1053004) — so the thermostat, defrost board, and contactor logic can operate. When a transformer fails or its internal fuse opens, the entire 24V control circuit goes dead: no thermostat call, no relay pull-in, and no heating or cooling.
