This OEM transformer (part #1173691) steps line voltage of 208/230V down to the 24V control voltage used by the ICP/Tempstar/Heil WPG4484115LKA1, and includes the matching 24V barrier (part #1178431) that isolates the low-voltage terminals. Rated at 40VA, it powers the thermostat, contactor coil, control board, and safety circuits. When a transformer fails — usually from a shorted contactor coil, a pinched thermostat wire, or age — the entire 24V control system goes dead: no thermostat display, no cooling or heating call, and no contactor pull-in. Symptoms include a blown low-voltage fuse, a buzzing or scorched transformer, or zero volts at the R-to-C terminals.

Installation Guide
