The included 24V barrier (OEM 1178431) protects and isolates the low-voltage terminals. When a transformer fails — often from a shorted control wire or a stuck contactor drawing excess current — the entire 24V control circuit goes dead: no thermostat response, no ignition, and no cooling call.
