Overview

This genuine OEM contactor switches high-voltage power to the compressor and condenser fan in ICP / Heil / Tempstar condensing units. The primary part is a 2-pole, 30-amp contactor with a 24V coil (P/N 1171554); the 3-pole, 40-amp 24V contactor (P/N 1172449) is the alternate/upgraded fit. When the 24V control signal energizes the coil, the contacts close and send line voltage to the compressor. Burned, pitted, or chattering contacts cause hard starts, a unit that won't run, or a humming contactor that never pulls in — the most common no-cooling service call.
