Overview

This genuine OEM single-pole 30-amp contactor (part 1172472) with a 24V coil and shunt switches line voltage to the compressor and condenser fan motor on the ICP/Heil/Tempstar WCH3182GKR500 heat pump. When the thermostat calls, the 24V coil pulls the contacts closed and power flows to the outdoor unit; when the call ends, the contacts open. Contactors are a high-wear part — the contacts pit, burn, and weld over thousands of cycles, and the coil can fail open. A failed contactor is one of the most common causes of an outdoor unit that won't start or won't shut off.
