Ventilation Rate
Calculator (ASHRAE)

Calculate required outdoor air ventilation for residential (62.2) and light commercial (62.1) spaces per ASHRAE standards.

ASHRAE Ventilation Standards

ASHRAE 62.2 sets minimum ventilation rates for residential buildings. The formula is 0.03 CFM per sq ft + 7.5 CFM per person (bedrooms + 1). For a 2,000 sq ft, 3-bedroom home: 0.03 × 2000 + 7.5 × 4 = 90 CFM of continuous outdoor air.

FAQ

How much fresh air does my home need?
ASHRAE 62.2 requires roughly 0.03 CFM per sq ft plus 7.5 CFM per occupant. A typical 2,000 sq ft home needs about 90 CFM of outdoor air ventilation.
