Dew Point &
Humidity Calculator

Calculate dew point temperature, relative humidity, and moisture content from dry bulb and wet bulb (or RH) readings.

Understanding Dew Point in HVAC

Dew point is the temperature at which moisture in the air begins to condense. It's the most accurate measure of how "muggy" air feels — more useful than relative humidity alone. For HVAC, dew point determines whether your system is properly dehumidifying.

Why Dew Point Matters for AC

A properly sized AC should maintain indoor dew point between 45-55°F. If indoor dew point is above 60°F with the AC running, the system is either oversized (short-cycling), has dirty evaporator coils, or has a refrigerant charge issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a comfortable indoor dew point?
45-55°F dew point feels comfortable. Above 60°F feels muggy. Above 65°F is oppressive. A well-functioning AC maintains 50-55°F dew point indoors.
Why does my house feel humid with AC on?
Oversized AC short-cycles before removing enough moisture. Low fan speed, dirty evaporator coil, or low refrigerant charge also reduce dehumidification. Check that the system runs at least 10-15 minute cycles.
